Pearls are the oldest known gem and have been used in jewellery and gift giving for centuries. Pearls were knotted on silk thread to stop the pearls from scratching against each other and damaging the nacre. The knots also prevented whole strings of expensive pearls being lost if the silk thread snapped. My pearl necklaces follow this tradition of hand knotting- each pearl is threaded carefully on 100% silk and knotted secured in place.
Amaya contains 166 little baroque peacock pearls with rainbow lustre, hand knotted together with tiny dotted gold filled beads on pale turquoise 100% pure silk thread. Finished with gold French wire and looped to a gold filled thin paper clip chain. There is no closure/clasp on Amaya - the necklace is long enough to gently pass over your head. The necklace measures approximately 68cm (including paperclip chain). Each pearl averages 2-3 x 3-4 mm.
Silk thread is incredibly strong, but can snap if excessive force is used. Please be gentle to avoid breakage.
Please do not wear while exercising, swimming, gardening, showering, cleaning or sleeping. Store in a soft protective pouch or box out of direct sunlight and away from moisture, excessive heat or cold. Please do not store in the bathroom. Avoid contact with household chemicals, perfumes, creams, and hairspray/gels.
