A distinctive heart shape leaf, Kawakawa, from the Maori word Kawa, meaning `bitter', has been used throughout Maori history as a tea for medicinal purposes. Kawakawa leaves are also traditionally worn after the loss of a loved one.
A trio of Kawakawa leaves , hand painted with porcelain paint and hanging from sterling silver ear hooks. The leaves measure 18mm across, and the drop from the top of the ear hook is 28mm. The porcelain paint is water and scratch resistant.
