Wreaths have been used to adorn homes, and worn as headdresses since ancient times.  Romans hung them on their doors as a sign of status or victory; and women wore them to special occasions such as weddings.  The laurel wreath was worn by victors of sporting events in ancient Greece.

Later adopted by the Christian faith, wreaths were hung on the front door or a window, as an invitation to the spirit of Christmas to enter the home and bring good luck, showing to all that the Christmas spirit dwelt within.

My little sterling silver Tui swoops down upon a solid 9k gold `berry' , which is surrounded by sterling silver native New Zealand plants (Kowhai leaves and Harakeke flowers).  A sterling silver star adds to the magic.
